Millbrae is the largest intermodal transportation hub in the United States west of the Mississippi River. Our city provides seamless connections for commuters, visitors, and businesses through Caltrain, BART, SamTrans, Commute.org shuttle services, the SPIN bike-share program, nearby San Francisco Bay Ferry routes, regional bus connections, ride-share services, and direct access to San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

The Millbrae Station in Millbrae, CA, is the Peninsula's largest intermodal transit hub, connecting regional rail, subways, local buses, and shuttles. [1, 2]

Transit options available include:

  • BART: The terminal station on the San Francisco Peninsula, served by the Red Line (until 9 pm) and the Yellow Line (early morning and late evening) for travel toward San Francisco and the East Bay. Find schedules on BART. [1]

  • Caltrain: Features cross-platform connections to commuter rail service running north to San Francisco and south to San Jose, with local, limited, and express trains. Check timetables at Caltrain. [1, 2, 3]

  • SamTrans: Local bus service including routes like the ECR, 292, 397, and 713. [1]

San Mateo County Vanpool Subsidy Program

New vanpools leased through Commute with Enterprise on or after July 1, 2025 can receive up to $500 off per month. Vanpools help employees who live near one another share rides, reducing costs and supporting long-distance commuting.

Bay Area Commuter
Benefits Program

Employers with 50+ full-time employees are required to offer at least one commuter benefit. Options include pre-approved programs designed to support sustainable commuting. Employers must register and update their information annually to stay compliant.

GoPass – Caltrain’s Commuter Program Benefits Program

Caltrain offers discounted, unlimited-travel annual passes for businesses, schools, and organizations. GoPass provides tiered options for both in-office and hybrid employees.

Transportation Updates

San Francisco Bay Ferry – SSF Schedule

A new San Francisco Bay Ferry schedule went into effect on March 9 to enhance both efficiency and the overall rider experience. The updated schedule includes earlier arrivals at Oyster Point during the morning commute, making it easier for passengers to reach work on time, as well as a later departure from Oakland for evening travelers. Riders can pay conveniently using a Clipper Card, mobile tap-to-pay, the SF Bay Ferry App, or onboard, providing flexible options for all commuters. These updates aim to make ferry travel smoother, more predictable, and more enjoyable for everyone using the service.

Oyster Point Ferry Shuttle Updates

Shuttle schedules serving the Oyster Point Ferry have been updated to align with the new San Francisco Bay Ferry service times, ensuring a seamless connection for commuters. These changes are designed to reduce wait times, improve reliability, and make it easier for riders to plan their trips between the ferry terminal and nearby destinations. The updated shuttle service accommodates both morning and evening commuters, helping employees, students, and visitors reach their destinations on time.
